The president of the New Haven, Connecticut-based independent software development company TrentSoft, Joe Masters began writing computer programs while working toward his bachelor of arts in mathematics and English at Williams College and his juris doctor at Yale Law School. Joe Masters was in school when he created the free Windows application EphPod. He oversaw the maintenance and development of EphPod while performing multiple editorial functions with Yale’s Law and Policy Review and Law Journal. He also provided legal assistance through the Landlord and Tenant Clinic and served as a research assistant with a focus on death penalty sentencing and pension law.

Both Mr. Masters and EphPod have attracted a considerable amount of media attention both from independent tech news sources such as ZDNet and from respected general news sources such as The New York Times. First released in the early 2000s, EphPod was revolutionary in terms of managing digital interactions between PCs and Apple iPods.
