When I started Equitable Mediation Services - a divorce mediation, divorce coaching and divorce financial analysis firm that serves clients in Illinois and New Jersey - I did so with the intention of helping people avoid what my parents did - spend all their money on a litigated divorce.

Back in the day my parents divorce was a messy affair. It took years, cost tons of money, my mother never recovered and I haven't seen my father in 30+ years. Talk about a train wreck.
