The Jehn Building in Olde Town Arvada, CO
motivodenver.com was founded in 2001 by multi-faceted artist/designer, Joe Scalmanini in Denver, Colorado (parent company, joeDesign, LLC) Originally from Lakewood Colorado, he received his art/design education in Denver at the Colorado Institute of Art (presently The Art Institute of Colorado). With 27 years of post grad experience, Joe’s skill set is broad and includes the areas of Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design and Fine Art.
Past career experience includes working full time for companies such as Monigle Associates in Denver. While there Joe worked as a graphic designer on such accounts as Shaw, Comcast, TViFusion, Avis, Atlas Air and many more large name corporate companies. GOOG Design provided Joe with an avenue to apply his talents to Design Build projects and all of the other design areas that are involved in Commercial Environment Design. Bridge Design in SanFrancisco provided Joe with Industrial Design experience and was a nice 3D compliment to the signage experience he already possessed. The Norbulinka Institute in Dharamsala India was met with challenging adventure as Joe found himself around the world with a volunteer design position for a Tibetan art school and cultural center. Joe owned and operated The Sign Guys in Crested Butte, Colorado for 10 years. A graphic design and signage studio who established it's reputation with projects that included Red Lady Ale beer, Matchstick Productions (extreme ski films) and distinctive dimensional signage for a growing Colorado ski town.
"One of my favorite accomplishments was when I lived in India as a volunteer 'in-house' designer for a Tibetan Art Institute in Dharamsala. The experience was something from a movie or book...to be around all of these Tibetan monks and Master Tibetan artists teaching the younger generation of Tibetans in exile how to preserve their art! From Thangka Painting and Metal Sculpture to Wood Carving and Applique, the disciplines were beyond rich and provided me with lots of inspiration. Introducing computer graphics, preserving paper drawings electronically and producing an identity for the Institute were a few of my many tasks while I was there. An experience of a lifetime."
With a broad set of skills and a progressive attitude, Joe Scalmanini continues to represent the design community in a clean and simple way.
