Let's be honest: Blood banking is tough! The huge array of details, nuances, and regulations can really make you nuts when you are learning them (or even after you were supposed to have learned them!). Navigating through the sea of information can be overwhelming, and many people feel frustrated and confused.
That's where I come in! I founded the Blood Bank Guy website in 1998 with one purpose: To teach the essentials of Transfusion Medicine to learners everywhere. Today, over 200,000 people visit BBGuy.org every year to learn and interact with me. I've helped thousands of students and healthcare professionals understand the basics and beyond, both for standardized exams AND "real life!"
In 2016, I started the Blood Bank Guy Essentials Podcast, an educational interview series with world-leading experts. The discussions are fun and lighthearted but packed with useful information.
I currently serve as a Transfusion Medicine educator for pathology residents, medical students, and lab science students at my alma mater, Loma Linda University in Southern California.
