Joe Douress
I am Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Sales Strategy for Elsevier Medical Research, the world’s leading publisher of science and health information.
Prior to my current role, I was Vice President of Content Operations for LexisNexis, supporting more than $2 billion in product revenue delivered via print, online, web and mobile applications.
From 2001 to 2007, I held numerous senior management roles with LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell, a preeminent legal publishing company. During this time, I led the development and management of lawyers.com, the #1 lawyer directory on the Internet. I was GM/CEO of Martindale-Hubbell from 2005 to 2007.
Prior to joining Martindale-Hubbell, I was Senior Director of Business Development and Strategy for Marquis Who’s Who and National Register Publishing, both former LexisNexis companies. I conceived of and developed several web-based content sites including www.boardcertifieddocs.com, www.redbooks.com and www.corporateaffiliations.com.
Prior to joining LexisNexis, I held a number of senior marketing, product development and business development positions at Dun & Bradstreet. While at Dun & Bradstreet, I was also editor and publisher of the Exporters’ Encyclopedia. In 1997, I co-authored the D&B Guide to Doing Business Around the World, published by Prentice-Hall/Simon & Shuster. While with D&B, I co-developed an export documentation software program called DocPrep, which was licensed by FedEx.
I am on the board of the William Paterson University Foundation and the Easton, PA--Phillipisburg, NJ YMCA.
I founded a charity golf tournament in 1992 to benefit children with cancer. Started in memory of my 12-year-old nephew, the charity has raised more than $300,000. I also helped establish the Barry L. Bush Memorial Scholarship in May 2007 in memory of Barry Lee Bush, a Newark-based FBI Special Agent who was killed in the line of duty on April 5, 2007.
