I'm the founder of the Canadian non-profit Exploring by the Seat of Your Pants, bringing science, exploration, conservation and adventure into classrooms across North America through virtual guest speakers and field trips. Since September 2015, we've hosted well over 2,000 live events connecting a half a million students with scientists and explorers from over 80 countries. We also send textbook-sized satellite BGAN units around the world with scientists and explorers allowing them to video broadcast into classrooms from the most remote regions of the planet.

I'm National Geographic's first Education Fellow and was named one of their 2017 Emerging Explorers. I founded Explorer Classroom with National Geographic Education, bringing their explorers virtually into classrooms from their homes, offices, labs and the field.

In 2018 I was selected as a Top 50 Finalist of the Global Teacher Prize and Exploring by the Seat of Your Pants was named on of HundrED's Top 100 K-12 Education Innovations in the World. I'm a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and The Explorers Club. In 2016 I spent time in the Galapagos as a Grosvenor Teacher Fellow and in 2018 spent time exploring the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary as an Ocean Exploration Trust Science Communication Fellow.

Previous to launching Exploring by the Seat of Your Pants and beginning my Fellowship with National Geographic, I taught intermediate science and math for 6 years.

I started scuba diving in 2007 while living in Wollongong, Australia and have spent time in the Galapagos, New Zealand, Fiji, Hong Kong, Bimini and Cozumel. Some highlight dives include a German U-boat off the coast of North Carolina, hammerhead shark dives in Bimini and night dives in Cozumel.
