Joel Mackenzie
Social Media Manager, freelance writer, and digital marketing in Melbourne, Australia
Whether it's in a professional capacity or in my own time, I'm an absolute sports nut!
I was lucky to find my passion early in life in sport and while I was fairly natural at most things I tried and continue to compete to this day; I think I always knew that if i was to have a future in sport, it was to lay off the field.
I graduated from University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Business (Sports Management & Marketing) and stepped into a sports development role with Wheelchair Sports WA (WSWA) as soon as I graduated.
Professionally, my ambitions have changed as I've experienced more in my chosen industry. I went from more of an operations role at WSWA to communications roles with Hockey NSW & the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
As time went on and I moved states for a second time, I've (somewhat accidentally) found my niche in digital communications having worked for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and most recently New Balance.
Outside of work I continue to volunteer my time as a freelance writer to the IPC and sit on my baseball club's committee in-charge of our media and communications.
I'm hugely visible online, but spread myself thin, adopting many different personalities looking after more than 20 social media accounts.
