In the Gospels, Jesus was only looking for "faith". He said, "According to your faith, be it unto you". Paul commended each church for love and faith. God is pleased by our faith and love in Him. Faith is believing God, even against all odds! Rom. 4: 18-21 Real faith puts you in motion and always results in pleasing God if it is in Him alone. Saving faith gives us a new heart that is truly able to do good works unselfishly. Otherwise our good works are like fithy rags in His sight. The cart must come before the horse. The fruit of goodness, love, joy, peace, etc. is the proof before men of our faith. So we are saved , by grace, through faith in Him alone. His grace allows us to come to Him by faith and His grace is centered around the Cross where Jesus suffered, bled and died in our place.
