Joel Phillips
Project Manager and Consultant in Georgia
I have over 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry and have provided leadership, support, and direction to a workforce of over 100 team members. I have also developed numerous departments (A/R, Denials Management, Scheduling, Financial Counseling, Financial Pre-Clearance, etc.) from "scratch" including budgeting, workflow, policy and procedure, hiring staff, and developing KPIs.
Working in the roles of Patient Financial Services Director, Business Operations Manager, Revenue Cycle Manager, Project Manager and Consultant have afforded me the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the revenue cycle and all of its inextricably linked components and processes.
I have also honed my skills thorough successful management of numerous large-scale, high-tech implementations and strategic initiatives while working on projects with companies which include The Advisory Board, The White Stone Group, McKesson, AHI Software, Parallon, Chamberlin Edmonds, Recondo Technology, MedeAnalytics, SCI Solutions, Phreesia, Aspirion Health Resources, MedAssets, Conifer Health Solutions, and GE.
In each successive position, I have become more and more skilled in mining and analyzing data to help support organizational decision making (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP & CONCATENATE are my best friends). This has allowed me to be successful. And with well planned strategies, has allowed projects my teams and I have led, to show significant improvement in cash flow, reduction of A/R days, overall revenue increase, and high client satisfaction.
I believe endeavors succeed or fail because of the people involved. Only by attracting the best people will you accomplish great deeds. Therefore, my management style involves treating people well, encouraging teamwork, and building trust through transparency.
I am skilled in delivering and managing successful health care consulting engagements including: project management for information system conversions, operational assessments, account receivable reduction strategies, process improvement implementation, work team facilitation, workflow system implementation, and establishment of benchmarks to compile baseline measures for best practice comparison.
Furthermore, I have been known to kill a man for coffee, chocolate and bacon. Ok, maybe not kill a man...but maybe elbow a teenager or two.
