Joe Vealencis

An accomplished professional with a long history of serving his country, Joseph Vealencis currently works as a Legislative Liaison Officer with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) in Washington, D.C. In this role, Joe Vealencis oversees congressional appointments for the ODNI, including correspondences, hearings, and briefings. In addition to developing and executing strategies designed to improve cooperation between the ODNI and important congressional oversight committees, Joe Vealencis informs Congress of the activities of the ODNI as required by law.

Before taking on his current position, Joseph Vealencis worked as a Senior Professional Staff Member on the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security. During his time with the committee, he served on the Subcommittee on Transportation Security and Infrastructure Protection. In addition to coordinating committee and subcommittee hearings and drafting legislation for consideration by Congress, Joe Vealencis acted as the lead staff negotiator for the Transportation Security Administration Authorization Act and the Chemical and Water Security Act of 2009.

Earlier in his career, Joseph Vealencis served as the Commanding Officer of Coalition Warship 1333 (USCGC Adak) in Bahrain and Iraq. In this capacity, Vealencis oversaw a number of coalition operations in the Northern Arabian Gulf, where he defended American troops and important Iraqi infrastructure. Joe Vealencis also communicated directly with coalition forces from other nations, including the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Australia. He worked closely with fellow coalition nations to execute joint combat boarding operations and intercept vessels suspected of banditry.

Joe Vealencis completed a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Marine and Environmental Sciences from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. He later studied at the National Defense Intelligence College, earning a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence. During his service, Joseph Vealencis was awarded numerous commendations, including two Meritorious Service Medals and two National Defense Service Medals.
