“Music is a gift from God. It should be treated as a vocation, a calling to use our abilities to praise Him with beautiful notes.”
This quote reflects my journey as a musician. I started learning to play the piano at the age of five, and although I paused formal lessons when I entered college, my passion never faded. I consistently practiced to refine my skills, and playing piano covers became my favorite pastime, especially during school breaks. This love for music led me to create a YouTube channel where I share piano covers and original compositions, allowing others to enjoy my music anytime.
Growing up, I was deeply inspired by John Williams’ soundtracks, which fueled my dream of becoming a film scorer. To develop my skills, I immersed myself in reading books, exploring various genres on streaming platforms, and watching online tutorials. I believe that learning isn’t confined to school. It is a lifelong journey toward fulfilling one’s dreams. Aspiring to be a film composer, I analyze the music in local and international films, studying how each score enhances the storytelling. As Hans Zimmer once said, “A good score should have a point of view all its own. It should transcend all that has gone before, stand on its own two feet, and still serve the movie.”
Beyond my personal music endeavors, I actively serve as a secondary choir pianist in our parish. This has further inspired me to compose music for the Mass, reinforcing my belief that music is a powerful way to lead people closer to God.
I am fully aware that a career in music demands dedication, patience, and years and years of practice, experience, and mastery. But I embrace the challenge, knowing that it will lead me to achieve excellence in what I am most passionate about.
