John C. Koontz

Golden, Colorado

Currently working as a Senior Vice President with Colorow Consulting Inc. (CCI). I am also a Lead Facilitator of CCI's ground-breaking VetPropulsion® Career Development Course.

Born and raised in Grand Junction, Colorado, I graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1988. Shortly thereafter, I joined the United States Air Force and served on active duty for six and a half years as an Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist, or Weapons Load Crew Member working on the F-16 Fighting Falcon, the F-15 Eagle and the B-1 Lancer. Throughout my career on active duty, I was stationed in multiple countries including a brief deployment in support of Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm from December 1990 to May 1991 with the 10th Aircraft Maintenance Unit deployed from Hahn Air Base, Germany. In January 1995, John was separated from the United States Air Force with a service-connected disability.

While attending Mesa State College in 1998, I began working with the Veterans Unit in the Mesa County Workforce Center discovering my passion for helping my fellow veterans find careers. For the next five years, I worked as a full-time volunteer and was officially hired by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment in the fall of 2003. It was during these ten years that I would fine tune my craft and become an expert in all facets of the Veteran’s career transition/job search process resulting in hundreds of veterans beginning new and exciting careers.

In September 2010, I went back to work as a Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialist in the Jefferson County Workforce Center. It was during this time that I met Dennis Orr and began working as a Vice President with Colorow Consulting Inc.

Promoted to Senior Vice President with CCI and tasked with increasing CCI's relevance and footprint within the career development / transition and workforce development arenas.
