John M. Kubiniec

John Kubiniec was a runner-up in the 2010 McCall’s Design Start Competition, being one of the eight finalists out of a field of 174. His quilt patterns have appeared in McCall’s Quilting, McCall’s Quick Quilts, The Fat Quarterly, and Fons & Porter Easy Quilts. He has designed patterns for Windham Fabrics, Red Rooster, and RJR Fabrics. John was one of the panelists at the American Folk Art Museum’s program Quiltmakers: Real Men Quilt in June of 2011 and his HQ Story was chosen to be part of Handi Quilter’s 2012 Ad Campaign. He was profiled in the Summer 2012 issue of Les Nouvelles - Patchwork et Création Textile, the journal of the French Patchwork Association. He was a participant in Quilt Match which is part of the Quilt Alliance’s, Quilters Take Manhattan 2014. He is a BERNINA Ambassador and was a tester for BERNINA in the development of their Q24 and Q20 Longarms which were recently launched into the marketplace. His article A Longarm? Should I? appeared in the August/September 2014 issue of Quilters Newsletter. He has also been chosen as one of the Aurifil Designers for 2015 .

He has been a quilter for over 12 years and taught at The City Quilter when he lived in New York City. He now teaches at stores in the Rochester, NY area as well as traveling to quilt stores and guilds across the country.
