John T. Monroe

Austin, Texas, United States

Hello! My Name is John Monroe, I am 20 years old, and I am a full time student at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Radio-Television-Film. I am also a member of Delta Kappa Alpha, a co-ed, professional, cinematic fraternity.

While I have always had a knack and a passion for creating digital media I also have a wide variety of hobbies, favorite pastimes, and skills outside of the digital realm. In high school I played varsity basketball and football, acting as captain of the football team for two years, and continue to play sports intramurally at UT. Similarly, I have taken my passion for theater, both on stage and behind the scenes, from high school into college where I was technical director for a production of "The Laramie Project". In addition, some of my favorite hobbies include carpentry, grilling, and watching obscure documentaries.

Every single day I am driven by the need to create, and the passion to create something good. I have worked in many different genres, from short films and event videography to portraits and advertisements. My past professional work includes promotional videos, senior portraits, event videography, marriage proposal videos, an editor for a thesis film and more. The one thing that is all of these projects share is that I can say I am proud of them. In everything that I do I either do completely and to the best of my abilities or not at all.

I am looking forward to my sophomore year at UT and my first semester as an active member of Delta Kappa Alpha in which I will be serving as the Pledge Education Secretary. I am excited to continue growing as filmmaker learning something new each and every day, and striving toward my goal of becoming a full time film editor and colorist.
