I am currently attending the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, where I am seeking a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration through the Isenberg School of Management. I'm a Marketing and Sociology double major taking a wide breadth of courses including those in statistics, data collection and analysis, creative writing, sociology, and a number of core business and marketing classes.
My biggest goals at the moment are to learn valuable skills through my courses, while also taking on some real life challenges and relevant work as I plan for my future career. Right now I'm interning with ServiceNet, a mental health and human services provider based in Northampton, working with the directors of Marketing and Applied Research.
I am definitely someone who likes to look at things from a big picture standpoint, never ignoring the fine details but making sure to see them in the context of everything else going on. For this reason, sociology has been something fascinating to me; Understanding cultural trends with a wide lens that can appreciate the context of our differences and the structures that make them so. For me, Marketing is all about understanding those same principals, appreciating where we are as a society and using that information to form creative strategy that reaches our ever changing sensibilities.
Moving forward with my education I'm very excited to take courses on and apply my skills towards a career in Market Research Analysis. Data collection and its interpretation, while sometimes challenging and a bit tedious, is emerging as a "must have" for companies that hope to stay relevant and compete in this golden age of big data.
Me? I'm someone who wants to be able to take those data and piece them together, seeing them and the consumer market place as the big beautiful picture it is.
