John Light

I'm a freelance writer and journalist, sometimes covering the environment, but also reporting on all manner of other things. I often write for the online environmental magazine Grist, but my writing has appeared (or will soon appear) at Vox, Worth, Mother Jones and Al Jazeera.

From 2012 through 2014, I worked on multimedia projects for Bill Moyers' television program and website,Moyers & Company. Before joining the Moyers team, I was a public radio producer with New York's WNYC. My work has been supported by grants from The Nation Institute Investigative Fund and the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Awards, and has been included in ProPublica's #MuckReads collection. I grew up in New Jersey, studied history and film at Oberlin College, and got my master's degree in journalism from Columbia University.
