John Spivey

Oklahoma City, OK

Hi there. I've been divorced for 23 years. I have, during that time, had the great pleasure, amidst moments of insanity, of raising two great kids. Being a parent, albeit a single parent, is easily the best thing I've ever done.

After a 30 plus year career in Corporate America, I am now a freelance writer and editor. I have published one book, HOSPICE, A LABOR OF LOVE and I'm happy to say that it's a best seller on the subject. It was a collaboration with two of my greatest friends, Denise Glavan and Cindy Longanacre.

I wrote a column for our newspaper, The Oklahoman, for several years as well titled, PARENTING SOLO, of which I am re-publishing in my blog - http://theonepim.tumblr.com. AND http://jspivey54.wordpress.com.

I have also created a blog to explore the issues and emotions of Younger Onset Alzheimer's - http://never-forget56.tumblr.com/ - dedicated to my sister, Mary. She was diagnosed with YOA at the age of 53.

I write screenplays as well. I've just entered my latest - LEARNING TO WALK AGAIN - in the Page International Screenwriting Awards Contest. With the help of my nephews in LA - Tanner Bean and Andy Bonura - we have adapted my father's novel, THE LEGEND OF THE DARK CANYON into a screenplay that finished in the top 10 in the Page Awards last year.

I am Associate Producer of THE COOKIE THIEF, a short film directed by my cousin, Adam Davis, and starring ERIC ROBERTS. And I'm Executive Producer of SUNNY SIDE UP, a short film by my nephew Tanner.
