John Allison

John Allison is a 2012 graduate of Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York, where he earned a bachelor of science with distinction in electrical engineering. As a recipient of the MSAA Hammam Memorial Power Engineering Scholarship, Mr. Allison completed two internships while studying to become an electrical engineer. From January to August 2011, he served as a co-op engineer at General Electric’s transportation division in Erie, Pennsylvania, collaborating on software testing and validation projects for GE’s locomotive control systems. From May to October 2012, John Allison designed validation plans and contributed to critical engineering projects with the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO), the state agency that manages New York’s electricity grid.

Prior to Clarkson University, Mr. Allison completed a bachelor of technology in alternative and renewable energy systems at the State University of New York in Canton. He most recently worked as a graduate teaching assistant in Clarkson’s department of electrical and computer engineering. He is an active member of several professional associations, including Phi Theta Kappa, Eta Kappa Nu, and the IEEE Power and Energy Society.

When not working, John Allison enjoys doing home improvement projects and travelling the world. He is an aspiring musician, who also plays tennis and golf.
