John Anastasi Architect

John Anastasi, a New York City architect and head of Anastasi and Associates, has contributed to the city community in numerous ways. An advisor to the New York City Department of Buildings for nearly two decades, he served on its facade focus committee, the facade advisory committee, the Commissioner’s Advisory Board, and several inspection focus groups. John Anastasi also served as Senior Architect with the New York City Board of Education for several years. There, he led a task force that created prototype designs for a small school, which later went on to win industry awards.

John Anastasi holds a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from The City College of New York. Before founding his own firm, he undertook a number of draftsman and job captain roles with New York architects Frederick Weidersum, Paul Rudolph, and Morris Ketchum. He also led projects for Environetics and for Byer Blinder and Belle Architects & Planners, LLP, where he oversaw office and bank projects and residential construction, respectively.

As firm owner and architect, John Anastasi leverages his extensive experience with New York City facades and historic restorations. He also designs a wide variety of residential properties including cooperatives and condominiums. Maintaining active involvement in the architectural community at large, he has served as President, and previously, as Vice President, of the New York Society of Architects. In addition, Mr. Anastasi participates in the Greek community throughout the city and has led the American Hellenic Progressive Association as President of the Spartan Karabatos Chapter. His activities city-wide have earned him recognition as Person of the Year by the Hellenic Neighborhood Action Committee (HANAC), a Greek-based philanthropic organization.
