I'm a techie turned finance guy. I always have been fascinated in science, electronics, and technology since I was a little kid growing up in Las Vegas. Didn’t realize I had an interest in math until age 13, where I begin taking advanced high school math classes. My curiosity in the world of finance and accounting evolved in high school, where I took college calculus and statistic classes. I knew I was a finance guy in college when I took applied calculus and statistics in business. Earning enough scholarships and grants, I supported myself throughout college in addition to part-time jobs for some more discretionary income. One of my first real exposures to finance and accounting was in high school when I volunteered and was elected to be Accounting Chair for a Relay for Life Event. I also was VP of Finance for my high school DECA chapter, which is a professional career development and marketing organization, and won in my competitive area at the State Career Development Conference. Preparing federal and state income taxes is one of the ways I help by volunteering my expertise to my local community through the IRS VITA program. I’m currently undertaking a finance internship that's the best of both worlds. I get to do investment research for clients, while also doing a lot of techie stuff like networking and Unix administration.
