John is a not-so-closeted nerd who studied Engineering at the University of Colorado, but who also had a passion for hospitality that started at age 14 in his hometown of Portland, Oregon. This blend of head and heart served him well as he brought an Engineer’s approach to solving problems within a 25-year career honing leadership skills in Colorado’s BigRedF Restaurant Group. There as Director of Development he oversaw many of the restaurant buildouts ensuring that they stayed on-time and on-budget.

Having developed enough knowledge to be dangerous in the realm of construction and wanting to apply lessons learned in Hospitality across other industries, John approached Flatirons Construction as first as a Consultant and then in a full-time role in Management and Operations where he excels at keeping communication flowing and the wheels turning smoothly; straightenin’ the curves and flattenin’ the hills.

When not working, you can find John trying to grease the wheels at home with his wife of 23 years Rachel, two boys (one in college and one in high school) and Indiana “Indy” Skywalker, the world’s best dog. He finds fun skiing, mountain biking, and decompresses by playing the same 20 songs over and over again on guitar.
