John Browne
Inspired to grow as an international school leader in Asia
I have recently completed my MA in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Nottingham (ranked in the top 10 universities in the UK in 2020), specialising in the development of models for the analysis of school leadership, leading professional development, fostering school cultures that promote teacher collaboration and the use of student data to inform pedagogy. Currently I work at Stonehill International School, a day and boarding school in Bangalore, India. I have previously been a Whole-School Director of Sport and Co-Curricular Activities and a Whole-School Head of Department for PE in a leading international day and boarding school in China, in this role I was also Camps Coordinator overseeing Secondary Camps weeks in various locations in China. I have worked in schools in the UK, the Philippines and Germany, during which time I began purposefully pursuing a strong motivation to develop as a school leader.
I currently teach PE and EAL and I am also a tutor for Teaching ESL Students in Mainstream Classrooms, a professional development course for teachers. This year I have helped around thirty teachers to complete the course, enabling them to better meet the learning needs of international students.
I am an experienced football, rugby and athletics coach, having competed myself at a high level.
My wife Jennifer is also an international school educator, Head of Department for English Language and Literature, and an IB Diploma examiner for TOK. We have two amazing daughters, Scarlett and Juno who are growing up as international school students.
