John Daniel Thieme

New Jersey

JOHN DANIEL THIEME is a wandering poet always in pursuit of the perfect word and dedicated to an almost Augustinian quest for beauty and truth.

As a scholar, his research spans poetry, literary criticism, linguistics, history, theology, and folklore--with a keen interest on the various intersections of faith, folklore, and art in narratives of pilgrimage and martyrdom, and in mediaeval depictions of evil and death.

John Daniel Thieme is the author of two collections of poetry--the ghost dancers (2014) and the forthcoming paulinskill hours and other poems (2016). He contributed an introduction and notes to a recent edition of John Donne's Holy Sonnets (2014), and an upcoming translation of Chaucer's Anelida and Arcite into Modern English (2015).
