As former Marketing Strategy Manager for Explore Minnesota, John helped develop and lead the brand strategy by finding endearing "Only in Minnesota" moments to communicate the unique, authentic nature of a trip to MN. Experience working with diverse people and marketing the diverse offerings of Minnesota. John oversaw several award winning campaigns including two in 2020: Best of Show from AdFed Minnesota for a Super Bowl activation and finalist for Adobe Government Creativity Awards.

John has moved on to this current role as Marketing Director, Outdoor Hospitality for EOS Hospitality. He oversees 11 different property websites, manages digital marketing, and a small but mighty team of graphic designers.

John had previously started the digital marketing department for Red Circle Agency from scratch, including but not limited to: SEO, SEM, email, social and other emerging media. In addition to those responsibilities of leading the Digital strategy efforts, John's extensive hospitality background was leveraged to spearhead a brand development project for a client looking to launch a new boutique hotel label with eyes on a value proposition unique enough to make it truly divergent in the marketplace.

John is passionate about hospitality marketing and state service, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing.

In 2008, John was brought on by Barcelo Hotels & Resorts in order to lead the U.S. marketing efforts for the multi-national chain. During a span of 5 years - John's team was recognized with a TravelWeekly Magellan advertising award, launched the innovative 'Say hello to Barcelo' online campaign and saw a 26% increase in product awareness. In 2012 these strides culminated in John's inclusion within Rising Stars 2012; a yearly selection of the top marketing professionals in hospitality/tourism under 35.

When he's not elbows deep in strategic planning, John can usually be found hovering around the coffee maker or in seek of adventurous travel and good eats.
