John Fielding is a Toronto businessman and the founder of Array Marketing (formerly IDMD), a global retail merchandising service with clients such as Estee Lauder, Chanel, Sephora, Ulta and many more.
John was also an early investor and Chairman of the Board of Ethoca Solutions Inc., an e-commerce and fraud solutions provider that was founded in 2005. Ethoca Solutions was acquired by Mastercard International in 2019.
John also serves as a principal of Toronto’s Amsterdam Brewing Company, a craft brewery with two additional facilities, the Amsterdam Brew House located on Toronto’s waterfront and the Amsterdam Barrel House in Leaside. Further, John maintains an investment interest in other notable ventures such as Novacore Communities and Zest Communities, residential real estate holdings and StudentHouses.ca a student housing development.
A professional hockey player in his early years, having played four years in Europe John returned home to Canada in 1981 to commence his career with what was to become IDMD. With determination, he and his brother, Bill, founded IDMD Design and Manufacturing, an award-winning retail merchandising company. In the beginning, the two brothers focused on advertising specialties and it wasn’t long before new market opportunities began to present themselves. Their business grew at a rapid pace as they entered the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries and began to specialize in the manufacturing of merchandising and display systems.
After many years of building the business John Fielding is still a shareholder of Array Marketing and serves as a director on their board.
In addition to his business accomplishments John Fielding has a strong presence in the equine world both as an owner and breeder of thoroughbred and standardbred horses. Horses owned by Fielding have won such notable races as the Hambletonian, the Meadowlands Pace, Metro Pace and through 2018 Fielding horses have captured 17 Breeders Crown titles, considered to be the annual showcase of Standardbred racing. John was the recipient of the United States Trotting Association owner of the year award on 2 occassions, first in 2010 and again in 2014. As a thoroughbred breeder John with his partner Fred W. Hertrich III of Delaware have approximately 100 broodmares in their band and are the breeders of current stars and Grade One winners Catholic Boy, Rushing Fall and Diversify. John also sits as a long-time director on the Woodbine Entertainment Group Board of Directors.
