John Fosbinder

John J. Fosbinder is a longtime board-certified emergency medicine practitioner, currently employed at Bakersfield Heart Hospital. An outdoors and climbing enthusiast, he regularly takes part in adventure races, or expedition races, over rugged terrain, which combine running, mountain biking, climbing, rappelling, and/or paddling, and generally last 8 to 12 hours. Competitors bring their own equipment. During the course of these “point to point” races, John J. Fosbinder has the opportunity to put all of his athletic skills to use.
Dr. John Fosbinder completed his medical degree at the Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and undertook his residency at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills. He has volunteered as an associate team physician at California State University, Bakersfield. In his current practice, Dr. Fosbinder has served on the Medical Executive and Credentials Committees and has assisted in developing pneumonia care measures. Dr. Fosbinder also has extensive knowledge of high-altitude emergency medicine and acute mountain sickness, and he has visited the medical station at Mt. Everest’s base camp.
