John Gorecki

Dr. John Gorecki, MD, is a board certified neurosurgeon with over 25 years of experience. After earning his medical degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Dr. Gorecki completed a surgical internship at Saint Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and a neurosurgery residency at the University of Toronto, Canada.

In 1990, he moved to the United States and began work at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Gorecki is a current Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. He holds board certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Neurological Surgery.

Dr. Gorecki focuses on a wide range of neurosurgical subspecialties, including stereotactic surgery, Gamma Knife and Cyberknife radiosurgery for tumor treatment; deep brain stimulation for the treatment of various neurological disorders; Gamma Knife radiosurgery for the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia; and (in collaboration with ENT specialists) transnasal endoscopic pituitary surgery. Dr. Gorecki is widely noted for his caring, empathetic manner, consistently positive outcomes, and non-aggressive approach to surgical indication.

Dr. Gorecki has held faculty appointments with Duke University Medical Center and the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He recently served as Chief of Neurosurgery for Via Christi Health and previously worked as Gamma Knife Director for Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

Dr. Gorecki’s current professional memberships include the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). He also acts as Cancer Liaison Physician at Northeast Georgia Medical Center for the ACS Commission on Cancer.

Dr. Gorecki’s independent practice is located in Buford, Georgia. He also holds admitting privileges in several first-rate area hospitals, including Northeast Georgia Health System - Gainesville. When he’s not working, Dr. Gorecki enjoys spending time with his wife and four children at their north Georgia home.
