John Gulius

John has been working with plants since his high school years. He respects and enjoys nature, and understands its seasons and rhythms.

After a detour into the corporate world, John returned to his roots and established an independent landscaping business in Greenville. Before that, he spent six years working for the investment firm William O’Neill + Company, Inc. in Los Angeles. As an expert on sales management, he was entrusted with a wide range of tasks, from coordinating deliveries to providing technical support services to clients.

One day he decided to make a dramatic change in his life and career, and he left L.A. traffic behind for the opportunity to work outdoors in Greenville. He secured a position with the city’s Parks Department, and steadily added to his knowledge of turf preparation and rehabilitation, lawn chemical application, irrigation, aeration, mowing, seeding, fertilization, weed and pest control, and more.

Soon he was ready to start his own business, Carolina Turf Solutions.

In the years since, his reputation has grown along with his loyal customer base. Apart from his expertise, customers appreciate John’s calm, methodical approach to his job and the courtesy, clear communication and decency he shows every person he deals with.

John works in partnership with his customers, and oversees each project. He believes in providing options and information, rather than rushing a client into a decision with hardball sales tactics. He listens to customers closely, and creates a solution tailored to their needs.

He is deliberate in his approach, taking the time to survey the land, take photographs, draw sketches, and explore every scenario to ensure the optimal result. Based on his analysis, he creates a strategy for revitalization and renewal. He believes that almost any landscape can be saved with the application of knowledge, skill and patience.

John Gulius earned a bachelor’s degree from the Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture, where he was a star member of the varsity wrestling team.

In his off-hours, he loves canoeing, woodworking and tennis. He is a top-ranked amateur player who competes in tennis tournaments. He is an active supporter of the Greenville Animal Shelter and the Miracle Hill Missions of Greenville.
