John Ian Boongaling
Assistant Professor 5 in Los Baños, Philippines
I am currently an Assistant Professor 5 at the University of the Philippines-Los Banos. As of the moment, my specific research interest is on determining how Jaakko Hintikka's Socratic epistemology can revolutionize how we assess the Gettier counter-examples to the traditional tripartite definition of knowledge as justified true belief (JTB). In my work, I am arguing that not only can it alter how we look at the Gettier counter-examples to JTB but it can also provide a more feasible way of conceptualizing knowledge and the knowledge acquisition process.
Apart from this, my other research interests are in the fields of Logic, Philosophy of Mind, and Philosophy of Language. I am particularly interested in how these fields intersect when we look at nonmonotonic reasoning. My other research interests are in the fields of Social Epistemology and Ethics with an emphasis on their intersection in neuro-ethics.
