John Jay the DJ

John Jay is a native New Yorker, and has been in the music business since the age of 12, when the Hip Hop era started. He became fascinated with the local DJ’s and learned the trade by becoming a roadie for DJ Grand Master Flash & Afrika Bambaataa when they performed at the Bronx River Community Center. John’s love for music continued to grow while he attended high school in Puerto Rico.

John shared his love of his music while in the U.S. Army, where he spearheaded Spinning Productions with two other Army buddies. The trio started DJ’ing in New York City’s Night Clubs such as: Lamoure East, Mirage, Roxie’s, 1018, Copacabana, the Red Parrott and Roseland to name a few.

His hobby grew into a business, called Finest Productions, where he worked and promoted in nightclubs, music recording production, and entertaining. This ultimately evolved into Finest Events Inc.

Upon retiring from the New York City Police Department, John moved with his wife and children to the Tampa Bay area, where he has continued his love of music and dedication to his community by building Finest DeeJays with 2 DJ’s, Latin Bands, and Jazz Bands performing at community events, weddings, churches, and corporate events. John Jay is the past president and one of the founding fathers of Networking for your Success, Inc., an active member of the Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce, Wesley Chapel Rotary Noon Club and current President for the Pasco Hernando Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Based out of Tampa, FL, John Jay the DJ has been performing at events throughout Florida, NYC, & the Tri - State area. He has over 25 years’ experience in providing the Finest in DJ Entertainment for all types of events including Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Birthday Parties (any age), Motivational Speakers, Casino Events, Outdoor Concerts, Corporate Events, Christian Events, Fundraisers, Reunions and Retirement Parties, and his specialty, Weddings.
