John MacDonald is the cofounder of MusicianU, an online sharing platform for amateur and hobbyist musicians, as well as TheGuarantors, an insurtech startup launched in 2016. Through MusicianU, John MacDonald of TheGuarantors offers musicians an online space in which to network and collaborate on projects. He is committed to creating a platform that protects user data, and the company does not sell its users’ information to third-party entities for advertising purposes. Under his leadership, MusicianU was mentioned as a significant competitor in its industry by Forbes.
Mr. MacDonald brings diverse experience in the arts to his work at MusicianU. In a period of around 3 years prior to starting the music app, he performed in 15 off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway plays. He also studied art history and management at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where he participated in its global investment group and the IBM Universities Business Challenge. Additionally, during the process of earning his master of business administration at Columbia University, he made dean's list and twice served as a teaching assistant.
