John Masembe

My name is John Masembe Seattle, WA. I am currently a Public Health Studies major at the University of Washington class of 2020.

As a young man with a Ugandan background, my experiences have allowed me to believe that healthcare is more than a passion but it is a calling to improve health outcomes in under-represented and oppressed populations starting from the U.S to across the globe. ie Black/African Americans, Hispanic, Asian etc.

My future ambitions is improving healthcare services through deliver of care, education, raising awareness, utilization of data through clinical research so that we can turn it into information that we use to alleviate diseases as well as addressing healthcare disparities affecting of color the most. I plan to pursue a masters in public health & apply those tools to help reach those in need; especially people suffering with sickle cell anemia.
