Early in his career, John Mattera founded Human Resource Development Worldwide, Inc., where he developed a uniform system for screening potential employees. Based on his research, he created testing packages corresponding to various job descriptions that each included the necessary physical examination, pre-employment assessment, post-injury drug screen, and background investigation. John Mattera’s novel approach to employee screening led to his playing a central role in the Florida Drug-Free Workplace Act in partnership with his client, the National Council on Compensation Insurance, Inc. Eventually adopted in every state, the Drug-Free Workplace Act earned John Mattera acclaim, including an appearance on the cover of Florida Trend Magazine and profiles published in BusinessWeek and Fortune Magazine.

John Mattera of Boca Raton, FL, went on to found The Mattera Reserve, an internationally prominent merchant banking firm, where he serves as Director and CEO. Consistent with John Mattera’s entrepreneurial spirit, The Mattera Reserve creates and manages international investments, partnering with equity holders to support projects in 23 countries around the world. Under John Mattera’s leadership, The Mattera Reserve has backed some of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs in industries such as clean technology, computer chip technology, digital technology, and rare minerals. Together with his investment partners, John Mattera supports ventures that have created more than 30 thousand jobs globally.
