John Mckowen

Denver resident and venture capitalist John McKowen serves as CEO of GrowCo., Inc., a firm he founded in 2014 that has about $20 million in cannabis assets. He is also CEO of VetaNova, a company he funded in 2018 and took public (ticker symbol VTNA on the over-the-counter markets). John McKowen holds a bachelor’s degree in economics, which he earned from the Metropolitan University of Denver. He also took courses at the Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver.
John McKowen has recorded several successes in bringing startup companies to the national stock exchanges. His first came in 1997 with Internet developer Navidec, which he first supported when it was still just a concept; it went on to become a billion-dollar company traded on the NASDAQ. Another successful startup he invested in was the gas exploration company BPZ Energy, which trades on the New York Stock Exchange.
Prior to taking the helm at GrowCo, John McKowen was CEO of the Two Rivers Water & Farming Company, a company he founded in 2002 and took public in 2010.
