John Michael Schert

An entrepreneur, artist, and dancer, John Michael Schert has more than fifteen years of experience in the performing arts. After graduating from high school at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, he began his dancing career with American Ballet Theatre and Alonzo King LINES Ballet. In 2004, John Michael Schert co-founded Trey McIntyre Project, where he was a dancer and executive director for nine years.
More recently, Mr. Schert has held a variety of academic positions. As an associate fellow at the NYU Center for Ballet and the Arts in 2014, he researched the discipline of creative arts, particularly ballet, and how the skill sets required might be applied to fields such as economics and business. Since 2013, he has also been the first Visiting Artist and Social Entrepreneur at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he explores topics related to the creative process and its translation into assets that can be marketed across sectors.
