Hire me

My name is John Remi Demers Nigh. I was born in Newmarket Ontario but I have lived in Barrie since I was three. I am currently taking Sports and Physical Education as well as Concurrent Education at Laurentian University. I grew up with two older brothers and a set of caring parents, and they all helped develop my mental and physical intelligence in sports and academics. My parent’s philosophy was to get me involved in as many activities as possible, providing me the opportunity to participate in sports such as hockey, badminton, soccer, football, cross country running, track and field, and ultimate frisbee. Although my education has been focused around physical and health education, I will also be graduating with teachables in physical education, science, psychology, and history. My education has afforded me the chance to transfer my sports specific skills into coaching through activity courses, thus expanding my knowledge on activities such as basketball, dance, and cross country skiing.

I have been a power skating instructor for six years and I have also helped grade 9 and 10 badminton players to improve their form and game awareness and in the spring of 2019 I coached a high school ultimate frisbee team.

I should mention I am also interested in music, being able to play the piano, guitar, and ukulele. I also have experience with performing in front of crowds, such as recitals, public poetry, and singing to people in retirement homes. I currently play guitar and sing in the choir at my church.

To date I have completed nearly a third of my B. Ed., and this may I will embark on my first long-term practicum before completing my professional year in 2020-1. I look forward to this chapter of my life.
