I started creating and designing experiences on a chilly October night back in 1993 when some friends and I broke into an abandoned warehouse in downtown Dallas and turned it into a pop-up disco.

We filled it with several thousand party people (we called them "ravers" in those days) to create a shared experience that most of us still remember today, almost 20 years later.

We created our own rave. But what is a rave? Is it a product? It is a service? No. It's a pure experience. This is important and it taught me something big: it's the experience that counts.

It's experiences, not products that we remember and love. It's our experiences that we will take to our graves. Products matter too - but it's the whole experience that we remember.

Well, I've long since retired from raving. Creating wonderful experiences is what I love to do with my time now. I help companies of all sizes to build great businesses around the design and delivery of great customer experiences. I'm always happy to share what I've learned.
