This was all brought on
by going to a charity talk in Edinburgh with a number of adventurers
talking about their travels around the world. The evening was hosted
by Alastair Humphreys, who it turns out is a bit of a motivational
speaker on the side. It must have had an effect though, as the next
day I went out and bought a touring bike. Initially I spent a week
touring round the west highlands visiting friends & family along
the way. I think I always knew however that this was going to be a
warm up to something a bit bigger....

I plan to leave early
November 2012 cycling from Thailand, through Laos to Vietnam,
returning to Thailand via Cambodia in January 2013. From there, I
will fly onto New Zealand to tour for a further 2 ½ months. I am
not on a fixed itinerary as I like to be able to change my plans as
and when suits. The only part that is fixed is the flights.
