John O'Brien

Teacher in the Department of English at the University of Virginia. I have written two books, Harlequin Britain, about eighteenth-century English pantomime, and Literature Incorporated, about the intersection of economics and literary form in English from the seventeenth to the nineteenth centuries. Currently working on poetry that has been locked in the pages of eighteenth century newspapers, and, with collaborators at the UVa Library and Marymount University, on creating a digital anthology of literature in English, a prototype of which can be reached by clicking on the icon above.
