John Patrick Moglia began his career as an art teacher for the East Grand School District in Colorado, where he also served as the Program Coordinator for the Able and Bright Creative Program for a year. The Department of Education gave this institution the second highest possible rating. He also worked as a Computer Lab Assistant and a Coordinator for English as a Second Language.

In 1998, he joined the Forest Hills Public School District in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as a teacher at Forest Hills Central Middle School. Within two years, he took the Art Program from part-time to full-time. To fulfill the demand of students who wanted to take John's art lessons, the program needed to recruit an extra art teacher. John P. Moglia has been working with Central Middle School students in the art program for over two decades.

In addition to lecturing, John P. Moglia enjoys assisting students through coaching. While teaching at Granby Elementary and working as a paraprofessional for special education at Centennial Middle School in Boulder, Colorado, in the Boulder Valley School District, and for Birmingham Public Schools in Birmingham, Michigan, he was the assistant varsity and junior varsity football coach at Middle Park High
