John Pelech

Portsmouth, NH

John Pelech, Founder and CEO of Poly Recovery has been called a “benevolent maniac entrepreneur with tireless passion.” Pelech, a leader in the new era of recycling, is known as “The Mad Scientist” in the local plastic and waste industry.

Pelech, a graduate of Colby Sawyer College, has been featured in Plastics News, Waste & Recycling News, New Hampshire Business Review, Green Business Matters, The Portsmouth Herald, The Union Leader, Colby Sawyer Magazine, Northeast Recycling Council, numerous industry blogs, and radio shows. In 2003, Pelech, established himself in a niche market: large-scale, green project finance procurement. Pelech and his team were funding renewable energy technology unheard of yet in the United States. It was during a closed-loop wastewater implementation visit to a recycled paper mill that Pelech had his eureka moment, and he has yet to look back.

After a two year period of testing, tinkering, and trial coupled with error in his backyard, and the support of his wife, Pelech finally perfected the ultimate recycling system; Poly Recovery was born. Poly Recovery, located on the Pease International Tradeport, paired with Pelech’s proprietary technology, has redefined conventional recycling. Pelech has pioneered “Sustainable Recycling,” a process and mission that is the first of its kind in the country. When not inventing new concoctions of plastic resins or tackling a less-than-perfect waste product scenario, Pelech can be found golfing, fishing, and spending time with his wife, Jenna, and their six-month old daughter, Hadley.
