Stoppi holds engineering licenses in more than 23 states and is a primary inspector and supervisor for a City of Philadelphia Special Inspections Firm.
After earning a bachelor's in mechanical engineering and a master’s in fire protection engineering, Mr. Stoppi took on consulting and management roles in the private and public sectors. He served as an inspector for the New York City Department of Buildings, where he improved public safety by ensuring compliance with building and fire protection codes.
He later enforced Pennsylvania building codes as the senior municipal code official for Keystone Municipal Services. For nearly a decade, Mr. Stoppi has operated his engineering consulting firm, John P. Stoppi Jr., PE, FPE, which is based in Pennsylvania. As the firm’s chief code consultant, he evaluates building plans for compliance with electrical, accessibility, energy consumption, and plumbing codes.
He also provides expert opinions on forensic engineering matters to attorneys and insurance firms. John Stoppi is affiliated with several professional associations, including the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the National Fire Protection Association.
