John Sauter

John Sauter is Founder and President at Tower 14 Capital, L.P., and also serves as Senior Advisor to Dune Real Estate Partners, a New York area private equity firm. His specialty is equity investment in large real estate projects.
Previously, he was Senior Managing Director and Principal at CBRE Global Investors, where he conducted investment transactions of over $2 billion.
Sauter spent eight years as a Partner in MSD Real Estate Investments, L.P., affiliated with MSD Capital L.P. His many transactions totaled over $5 billion in stocks, debt, and property, plus approximately $1 billion in equity.
Before his MSD position, he served as Vice President of Acquisitions at Starwood Capital and as President of Troon Golf, a joint venture between Starwood and Goldman Sachs. He oversaw Troon Golf’s expansion to new markets in Japan, Australia and the U.K.
He was a Partner at Investec in Santa Barbara, working to develop and acquire retail, multifamily, office and other projects. John began as a Financial Analyst with LaSalle Partners in Chicago and Los Angeles.
John holds a B.A. in political science from Duke University and an M.B.A. from The Anderson Graduate School of Management at The University of California, Los Angeles.
John lives in Santa Monica with his wife and children. He is an avid list maker who believes that “the most important thing you do each day is what you do before you do anything.”
