Brittany Johnson is a reporter and student at UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. She received her Bachelors degree in Global Studies from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2012 and is currently in pursuit of her Masters of Journalism.
Brittany has written for various publications including USA Today College, Sierra Magazine, Richmond Confidential, emPower Magazine and a handful of other indie publications. She covers a wide array of topics - healthcare to mountaineering and outdoor activities. Throughout her aspiring careers she has been priviledged to interview a host of inspiring and relevant individuals such as New York Times Best Selling Author of Wild Cheryl Strayed and Former Ugandan Child Solider and Activist Grace Akallo.
Recently, Brittany completed the cover story for Sierra Magazine's Jan/Feb 2014 issue. In the article she interviews the first group of Black climbers to ever attempt the summit of Denali.
Brittany has a true passion for environmental and social justice and is dedicated to increasing the representation of minority populations in the media.
She is currently working as a television reporter for California News Service (CNS) - a news show broadcast on UCTV. Additionally, she is an enthusiastic participant of NBC Bay Area's Internship program, where she is gaining hands on experience working on the assignment desk, with the web team and with TV crews in the field.
While balancing various extracurricular activities, Brittany is dedicated to scholastic and personal growth. She has received multiple Dean's list awards throughout her academic years and is dedicated to community involvement and service.
