My mission is to help millions of people experience a better career and life through Working Out Loud.

It started when, inside a large global bank, I introduced an enterprise social network to help make work more effective and more fulfilling. Ultimately, over 75,000 people came to actively use that network, and over that time I learned a lot about why people do and don't do certain things.

Although people wanted more meaningful relationships at work and more control of their career, too few know what to do or, if they did, they didn’t have the habit of doing it.

To help people approach work and life this way, I wrote a book, Working Out Loud, which came out in June 2015.

Working Out Loud is an approach to your goals that helps you build relationships and learn, enabling you to better enjoy each day while gaining access to more possibilities. Think “Dale Carnegie meets the Internet.” Instead of playing career roulette, you invest in deepening relationships. Instead of networking to get something, you lead with generosity. You make your work visible and frame it as a contribution. Combined, these elements form a powerful approach to work and life.

To put the ideas into practice, I created a simple 12-week peer support process that enables anyone to build a network toward a goal they care about. These Working Out Loud circles are now in 11 countries, You can find resources, stories, and more at workingoutloud.com.
