John Stevenson Smiley, Sr.

Over 35 years of investment banking experience. Primary focus is funding start-ups and early stage companies in technology, entertainment, finance, and human resources, with an emphasis on intellectual property.

Commissioned as a Marine Officer upon graduation from East Carolina University. As President of the "Friends of Joyner Library" in 1997, created and launched an endowment campaign that has generated over $10MM to date. Working with Wounded Warrior projects in 2009, established liaison between ECU researchers and USMC Commandant/Chief Medical Officer of the Marine Corps.
