John was born in Manila who grew-up in Quezon City (Metro-Manila, suburb) with his three older siblings (two brothers and one sister), his father, and his grandmother while his mother was working in Libya as a nurse. John moved in United States when he was 16 years old. He stayed in Oceanside (San Diego suburb) for a while due to schooling but he moved to Merced where his mother and his two brothers lived at the time. He eventually became an American citizen.
