John W. Archibald

John W. Archibald has served as Project Executive with Cobalt Construction Company in Simi Valley, California, since July 2011. This position entails the management of construction contracts and budgets, and the hiring of office and field staff. Mr. Archibald undertook executive-level duties with Beverly Hills-based Casden Properties LLC for 13 years prior to his current position. As Senior Vice President of Construction Operations, Mr. Archibald oversaw the successful completion of more than 3,000 new apartment units and 1,200 rolling rehabilitation units. His management responsibilities extended to planning, architectural and engineering design, contract administration, and risk assessment. Throughout his time with Casden Properties, John W. Archibald continued to operate ArchWay Builders, Inc., a firm he established in 1992. As owner and President of the firm, Mr. Archibald has completed a wide range of general contract home building and remodel projects in the past 19 years. He has also engaged in light industrial and commercial work, notably overseeing a major shopping center project. Mr. Archibald’s full range of responsibilities with ArchWay Builders includes government processing, construction document preparation, and contract management.

John W. Archibald earned a B.A. in History and Political Science from Hiram Scott College in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He also obtained a teaching credential for grades 6 through 12. Mr. Archibald entered construction management in 1978, undertaking on-site Assistant Superintendent duties with Casden Properties. He accepted a promotion to Senior Purchasing Agent in 1984. In this capacity, Mr. Archibald contracted work on apartment units throughout Southern California. During this 12-year initial period of employment with Casden Properties, he engaged in all stages of work on 1,000 homes and more than 5,000 apartment units. John W. Archibald served as Director of Construction Operations the Larwin Company for two years prior to forming ArchWay Builders, Inc., and for two years afterward. A member of the Building Industry Association, he holds general building contractor licenses in California and Florida. Mr. Archibald is a longtime outdoor enthusiast and enjoys hiking, cycling, golfing, and competing in triathlon events.
