18 years using, installing and troubleshooting LAN / WAN Networks from EPS8-9, through Baseband Modems, Kilostream and Megastream, 10Base2, to today's technology, the issues are the same the technology has moved on but the connectivity challenge is the same.
Cut my teeth on X.25, Case DCX, Grapevine, Cabletron, RS232 Multiplexors, Ascend MAX 4000 and Pipeline Routers and disovered WANs in the process.
Currently building Vissensa's wide area networks to join 4 DCs together and provide additional Cloud resiliance, backup and DR to out our customer base, improving network bandwith and reducing latency. We have invested in Brocade VDX Switching and IBM Servers including Power 8 and System Z BC12, Software and Storage and are currently looking at Policy Management and NAC to improve the BYOD experience and make it an easier option to deal with security at the endpoint
Supported 3 London Teaching Hospitals in Data Centres with 5 *9 connectivity for 6 years before cloud was Cloud, Netscreen Firewalls, Extreme Switching and Point to Point VPN, across London and out at Heathrow, great fun.
While not doing any of the above other hobbies are being a Dad, Biker, Lego, Arduino, Electronics, Railway Modelling and collecting old Valve Equipment and Roberts Radios.
But more importantly sitting in my workshop coming up with crazy ideas and / or recycling old electronics and building interesting projects with my boys.
