Taxation on payouts

Payouts from insurance policies issued on or after April 1, 2023 are taxable if the aggregate annual premium is more than ₹5 lakh. However, death benefit claims are exempt from taxes.

TDS

TDS applies if policy payouts exceed ₹1 lakh.
